DALL-E 3 Now Has Integrated Editing Tools, But It Perfect?

Let’s dive into the fascinating world of DALL-E 3’s editing tool and explore its capabilities through practical examples:

Removing and Erasing:

DALL-E 3’s editing tools can erase small features, but it has limitations.
For instance, when creating an image of a robotic hand holding a glowing, transparent square chip with “AI Accelerated” written on it, DALL-E struggled with the text.
To remove the spelling mistake, you might need to experiment with different prompts.
Despite occasional challenges, DALL-E can still perform tasks like moving elements within an image.

Adding and Changing:
DALL-E can make changes, but success depends on the complexity.
For a close-up image of a human eye, it handled the request well, but switching iris color proved challenging.
Similarly, creating a claymation-style image with a yeti background worked, but replacing the yeti with another animal didn’t.
Adding more elements (like trees) also posed difficulties.

Adding Text:
Adding accurate text to images remains a challenge for generative AI.
DALL-E can create postcards, but adding specific text requires iterative prompts.
Birthday cards with “Happy Birthday” worked, but adding the date needed multiple attempts.
